CultureSnap Consulting, LLC provides culturally-informed evaluation and consulting services to nonprofits and museums. Founded by a Cultural Anthropologist, we help our clients gain in-depth insights into the perspectives and needs of their diverse audiences, design equitable community engagement strategies, and measure and communicate the impacts of their work.

We specialize in participatory and collaborative approaches to program planning and evaluation, engaging stakeholders in defining goals and deciding outcomes, and strengthening the bonds between organizations and the communities they serve. CultureSnap Consulting is a U.S. Small Business Administration certified Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB).

About CultureSnap Consulting, LLC

Melissa A. Stevens, Ph.D. is an applied cultural anthropologist and Principal of CultureSnap Consulting, LLC, bringing more than 15 years of experience in research, evaluation, program development, and organizational consulting across academic and nonprofit settings. She holds a Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Maryland and specializes in culturally-informed, equity-oriented approaches to audience research, evaluation, and organizational learning. Her work spans museums, cultural heritage, tourism, sustainable development, gender equity, and global education, with geographic expertise in the United States, Southeast Asia, and East Africa.

Her research and evaluation expertise is grounded in extensive fieldwork and applied research. She received an NSF grant to support her doctoral dissertation research in Tanzania, where she evaluated a national cultural heritage tourism and economic development program. She also worked with Counterpart International to conduct participatory research and community planning for a sustainable tourism initiative in Vietnam. At the Global Philadelphia Association, she managed the World Heritage City Project, working with the City of Philadelphia, the National Park Service, and museum and nonprofit partners to develop community engagement and World Heritage education programs.

As a consultant, she has designed and conducted museum and nonprofit evaluations, including audience research for an IMLS-funded museum project and a collaborative evaluation for a Pew Center for Arts & Heritage funded exhibition, where she trained staff in qualitative research methods and developed an evaluation toolkit. She has also taught university courses in anthropology and research methods since 2009, and is currently Adjunct Professor of Anthropology at the University of Delaware.

She lives in Philadelphia with her husband Woods and pup Ripley.
